Ian D’Agata has selected some of the finest Tuscan wines to enable you to explore all the region has to offer. Read all about the characterful tastings hosted by the world’s top producers at this year’s Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter.
Last year, Decanter’s contributor and author of Native Wine Grapes of Italy, Ian D’Agata, visited the Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter and his Barolo masterclass was a great success. This year, Ian D’Agata will return to the Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter and host another masterclass about Italian wine - “Superstars of Tuscany”.
As the greatest and most prestigious wine region in Italy, Tuscany shows its diversity in wine today. In this masterclass Ian D’Agata has selected some of the finest Tuscan wines, to enable you to explore all the region has to offer.
Here, you will not only find the famous Chianti Classico, but you will also have the opportunity to compare it with the Chianti subregion, Rufina. In addition, you can definitely not miss the wine from Bolgheri, which was responsible for reinvigorating the Tuscan wine in the 1960s. The Bolgheri wines also give you the chance to see what happens when Sangiovese meets its classic Bordeaux blend.
There will be several “Super Tuscan” wines from different sub-regions, to allow you to fully explore. Besides red wine, we will present another Tuscany signature, Vin Santo, a sweet wine made from air-dried grapes.
You will rarely find such an impressive line-up at a Tuscany master class. Wines from Sassicaia and Ornellaia will be presented, alongside those from Felsina and Fontodi. Isole e Olena will also be bringing its world famous Cepparello.
