The Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) has launched a new Chinese website, it announced today.

Launching in Hong Kong on day one of the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair, the new website, WSET-China.com, will be in both simplified and traditional Chinese, focussing on extending the organisation’s reach in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Singapore.

The WSET currently provides education and qualifications in wines and spirits in over 50 countries around the world, and in 15 languages.

The launch of the site also coincides with a new WSET Global account on popular Chinese social media site Sina Weibo (@WSET全球).

In a statement, Ian Harris, CEO of the WSET, said the new site would provide ‘a wealth of information’ about the organisation and its activities.

‘Countries in Greater China are some of our fastest growing markets internationally and we’re excited to roll out this new website to better inform people about who we are and what we do.’

The WSET recently announced Laura Jewell MW was to become the organisation’s first female chairman. Jewell has been credited with helping ‘[define] the strategic direction of WSET since becoming a trustee four years ago’.
