Medal-winning wines from this year's Decanter Asia Wine Awards are being showcased by key retailers and top venues across Asia in the coming weeks, giving wine lovers the chance to try some of the best wines available in their markets.
A series of promotions on award-winning wines, including those that scooped coveted International Trophies, began at the end of October and is set to run until the end of March 2015.
Retailers and top hotels in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Philippines are taking part in the programme, which has attracted a number of new partner venues for 2014, as the Decanter Asia Wine Awards (DAWA) continues to rise in prestige in the region.
There will be 16 Gold medal and Trophy winners available to taste at the inaugural Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter, which takes place this Saturday (29 November) at the Ritz-Carlton in Pudong and is set to be attended by hundreds of fine wine enthusiasts from Mainland China.
In the past few weeks, DAWA winning wines have already been tasted by trade visitors to the Vinexpo Nippon show in Tokyo and ProWine China in Shanghai, the latter of which attracted more than 8,000 visitors.
Other tastings and promotions are targeted directly at consumers. The Wine Residence owned by ASC Fine Wine in Shanghai has again installed top DAWA wines in enomatic machines for members and visitors to its shop.
In Hong Kong, Watson's Wine is holding a special consumer tasting of 80 DAWA medal winners this evening, 25 November. Enoteca will hold its own dedicated DAWA consumer tasting in Hong Kong on 12 December and will run retail promotions on the wines until 20 January. Retailer city'super held a consumer tasting at the end of last week.
Outside of Hong Kong, Decanter is extending its promotion to Singapore, where online retailer FairPrice will also run promotions. Elsewhere, Bacchus Corner in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh city and CAV Wine Shop in Taguig, Philippines, are both set to run retail promotions to the end of March 2015 and the end of December this year respectively.
Top hotels showcasing DAWA winners in their bars and restaurants include the Island Shangri-La, Grand Hyatt and Metropark in Hong Kong.
