ASC Fine Wines has announced it will close its Wine Residence private members club in Beijing on 30 September, pending a move to a new venue next year.
The Wine Residence Beijing, located in in Taikoo Li North, Sanlitun, is a part of ASC’s Wine Gallery subsidiary, which embodies the importer’s direct-to-consumer service. Since its opening in January 2011, the Wine Residence Beijing has functioned as a retail shop, private members club, education centre and an event venue.
ASC said the current lease for the site will expire at the end of the year, and the group was ‘unable to reach mutually agreeable renewal terms for this space with the landlord’.
As a private club, the Wine Residence Beijing also provides wine storage to its members. ASC will discuss alternative wine storage options with clients, it said.
‘ASC is committed to establishing a similar or better facility in Beijing in 2015 and beyond,’ Matthew Gong, spokesperson for the company, told DecanterChina.com. ‘To that end, we are in discussions with several potential partners regarding suitable options.’
The Wine Residence Shanghai, which was opened in 2013, remains will remain open as normal.
