Chateau Palmer's story begins in the 15th century. In 1748, it was a parcel of these vines that passed, by inheritance, to the de Gascq family. General Palmer, who had served under Wellington, bought Domaine de Gascq in 1814 and, in a fit of modesty, renamed it. He expanded the vineyard and laid the foundations for its ranking as a Third Growth in the 1855 classification. In 1938, since the Sichel and the Mähler-Besse families’ acquisition of Château Palmer, they have applied single-mindedly the key principles that contributed to the prosperity of this great wine: authenticity, quality and constancy. Thanks to their sustained uncompromising efforts, this exceptional terroir continues to produce outstanding wines, sought-after by wine lovers throughout the world.
